American Heart Association Beach Ride

The 37th Annual American Heart Association Beach Ride will take place October 31st- November 31st. The event is held a Lakewood Camping Resort (www.lakewoodcampground.com). The campground is oceanfront and offers full hook up sites. You actually camp on site with your horse and ride right out of the campground onto the beach. Riders MUST have their campsites reserved before registering with the AHA.

What will take place during the Beach Ride?

The five day event includes vendors, a parade, karaoke, nightly entertainment, auction and concludes with a Saturday, celebratory 20 mile beach ride on the beautiful beaches of Myrtle Beach. This is the only time of year horses are allowed on the beach in Myrtle Beach city limits. The official schedule will be released this summer.

When Can I arrive at the Campground?

All registered riders are welcome to come into the campground starting at 8am on Wednesday, October 31st.

Where do the funds go and what does my registration include?

The event is a fundraiser for the American Heart Association and raised over a quarter of a million dollars a year to fight cardiovascular research and stroke. Each rider is required to raise a minimum of $175 in donations to attend (the rate increases to $200 on June 16th). Many riders raise much more than this as they, or someone they love, has been affected by heart disease or stroke. Riders who raise $1,000 are put into a drawing for a new trailer. Along with beach riding, your registration also includes a t-shirt, all AHA activities at the campground and lunch on the beach during the Saturday ride.

What other fees are associated with the event?

**New this year…all riders must pay a rider deposit of $50 by June 15th or campsites will be cancelled. There will still be a fundraising minimum each rider will have to meet to attend. The $50 deposit will be subtracted from this amount. As in year’s past, we will offer a discounted early bird rate if you meet or pay this minimum by June 15th. In addition to the registration with the American Heart Association, riders must book their campsite through Lakewood Campground by calling 843-447-7701. The sites are booked as a 4 night package for a total price of $172 per campsite. All sites are booked on a first come first serve basis and the campground usually fills up pretty quick. What are the Registration Fees?

Event Fees: Early Adult Registration: $175.00. On June 16th 2018 , rate will increase to $200. Each registration includes one rider and one horse. Additional horses must pay full registration fee. Early Saddle Club Rider Registration: $150.00. Rate will increase to $175 on June 16th, 2018 Must have 15 or more riders in group. Each registration includes one rider and one horse. Additional horses must pay full registration fee. Early Youth Registration: $125.00. Rate will increase to $150 on June 16th, 2018. For Youth 16 years and under. Proof of age will be confirmed. Each registration includes one rider and one horse. Additional horses must pay full registration fee.
